No unChristian book summary from me this week (unless Michael wants it)…I figured everyone would be chowing down and watching the NFL
In lieu of unChristian, I offer up a few threads from FTA for your consideration: two of mine, a review of Jim & Casper Go To Church, a book about an atheist and a minister who visited churches around the country (including Osteen's) and gave their views, and a short article on whether pastors should maintain a professional distance from their congregations; and an article by Barton on how we should submit to the authorities in our lives.
Other interesting links for your consideration:
Adrian Warnock has been blogging on John Piper's book The Future of Justification; get caught up here.
Warnock also blogged about Mark Driscoll's sermons in England this past week, here and here.
Timmy Brister asks what's the difference between Oprah and prosperity teachers?
Two guys from the Said at Southern podcast interviewed N.T. Wright about his views on justification. Download the podcast, or read the transcript.
This February conference at Mars Hill Church in Seattle may be of interest to you:
Understanding the text of Scripture and the context in which we live are essential in preaching the gospel today. This is true whether you are a preaching pastor or a Christian that wants to reach your co-worker/neighbor.
Resurgence and Acts 29 are excited to host a premiere conference on preaching and church planting on February 25-27, 2008. Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA will be hosting this Boot Camp in connection with the National Resurgence Conference. Featured speakers include pastor/author Dr. John Piper, pastor/author Mark Driscoll, pastor Matt Chandler and author/consultant Jim Gilmore. This conference will also combine the Acts 29 Network Church Planting Boot Camp which will be open for attendees of the National Resurgence Conference.
And that's a wrap.
Maybe you get the unChristian summary tomorrow - I'll be working on it just in case - but if not, we'll pick back up next Thursday.
Until then…remember, as Arthur Carlson sadly learned, turkeys can't fly.

I am hoping to attend that conference at Mars Hill in Feb. It sounds pretty cool…
The interview with NT Wright at Southern Seminary is fabulous…
This man is simply NOT the bogey man that Calvinists think he is.
Why is theological reaction to Rome the only advance possible in historical theology?

His comments on Carson, Piper and Moo are interesting….
He says Moo is the superior Pauline scholar to those others…no real surprise and not really a slight, but it elevated Moo in my mind so that I need to check him out.
His comment about Carson is no surprise. Carson is a doctrinaire Calvinist. I am quite serious when I say it is sad to have conversations with Calvinists and to realize that they really cannot move past Calvin.
Unless of course it is eschatology… but that alone should be a key as all theology is eschatology…
We are about the way things must turn out…the God of history.. who has not left history to itself.
Thank you for this link….
