Michael, I was directed to Jack Hibbs by a close family member. I came across this video and it really concerns me. If you or anyone else would take the time to view it I’d be interested in your thoughts. I came away very concerned with some of the stuff he had to say. This was posted this past Thursday. I hope and pray God’s best for you and everyone else as we walk these uncertain times.

    Erunner,
I’ll look at it here in a bit…

    Erunner:
I live fairly close to Hibb’s church, have a few friends that attend. He is very active politically and as too many CC pastors, craves the spotlight.

I couldn’t even finish watching the clip.

As Michael said recently, why would I claim to be knowledgeable about a subject I have little to no knowledge in ? (paraphrased).

I am surprised as to how many CC churches not only had services last Sunday, ignoring a request in California to not have assemblies of 150 or more, but have stated they will continue to have services even when they have online services available.

    amazing.

Richard, I have heard in the past Hibb’s was very political. It concerns me how far this can go. The person I mentioned to Michael has told me the CDC is part of some sort of New World Order and is not to be trusted. That will impact how they respond to the Coronavirus. It’s all very disconcerting. Thanks for your response.

    Erunner,

    Blessings to you.
My immediate circle has been deeply affected by this pandemic already.
If I thought for one second that this was truly “no big deal” or a media driven hoax I would be very angry.
It’s not…it’s real and it’s going to change the face of America for years to come.
Our regional hospital is already at capacity…the numbers don’t show yet because testing has been so difficult to acquire.
It is the height of arrogance to tell people that there is little to be concerned about and you may well end up killing people by continuing to assemble.
Those who love political conspiracy theories will not listen…but I pray that you and all of us here listen to our leaders and endure short term pain for the sake of love of neighbor.

Michael, Things are terrible in Orange County, Ca. as in the rest of our nation. As I’m 65 the Governor’s stated I shouldn’t even leave my home. I simply couldn’t be quiet when a pastor has his congregation laughing at what is a life altering event. The laughter was too much for me.

  7. Michael says:

    Erunner,

I’ve spent a big chunk of my day pleading with pastors all over the country to shut down for a while.
    Some have listened…

I couldn’t even finish the Hobbs clip. Ignorance and hubris on display.

I couldn’t watch after the second “we need to calm down.” I’m calm. If they are not respecting those in governmental authority, they should not be so surprised when someone does not respect their authority. But of course, they are…..

To all those who feel compelled to compare COVID-19 to the seasonal flu.

  11. Michael says:

    I didn’t write this, but it’s helpful.

“Feeling confused as to why Coronavirus is a bigger deal than Seasonal flu? Here it is in a nutshell. I hope this helps. Feel free to share this to others who don’t understand…

It has to do with RNA sequencing…. I.e. genetics.

Seasonal flu is an “all human virus”. The DNA/RNA chains that make up the virus are recognized by the human immune system. This means that your body has some immunity to it before it comes around each year… you get immunity two ways…through exposure to a virus, or by getting a flu shot.

Novel viruses, come from animals…. the WHO tracks novel viruses in animals, (sometimes for years watching for mutations). Usually these viruses only transfer from animal to animal (pigs in the case of H1N1) (birds in the case of the Spanish flu). But once, one of these animal viruses mutates, and starts to transfer from animals to humans… then it’s a problem, Why? Because we have no natural or acquired immunity.. the RNA sequencing of the genes inside the virus isn’t human, and the human immune system doesn’t recognize it so, we can’t fight it off.

Now…. sometimes, the mutation only allows transfer from animal to human, for years it’s only transmission is from an infected animal to a human before it finally mutates so that it can now transfer human to human… once that happens..we have a new contagion phase. And depending on the fashion of this new mutation, thats what decides how contagious, or how deadly it’s gonna be..

H1N1 was deadly….but it did not mutate in a way that was as deadly as the Spanish flu. It’s RNA was slower to mutate and it attacked its host differently, too.

    Fast forward.

Now, here comes this Coronavirus… it existed in animals only, for nobody knows how long…but one day, at an animal market, in Wuhan China, in December 2019, it mutated and made the jump from animal to people. At first, only animals could give it to a person… But here is the scary part…. in just TWO WEEKS it mutated again and gained the ability to jump from human to human. Scientists call this quick ability, “slippery”

This Coronavirus, not being in any form a “human” virus (whereas we would all have some natural or acquired immunity). Took off like a rocket. And this was because, Humans have no known immunity…doctors have no known medicines for it.

And it just so happens that this particular mutated animal virus, changed itself in such a way the way that it causes great damage to human lungs..

That’s why Coronavirus is different from seasonal flu, or H1N1 or any other type of influenza…. this one is slippery AF. And it’s a lung eater…And, it’s already mutated AGAIN, so that we now have two strains to deal with, strain s, and strain L….which makes it twice as hard to develop a vaccine.

We really have no tools in our shed, with this. History has shown that fast and immediate closings of public places has helped in the past pandemics. Philadelphia and Baltimore were reluctant to close events in 1918 and they were the hardest hit in the US during the Spanish Flu.

Factoid: Henry VIII stayed in his room and allowed no one near him, till the Black Plague passed…(honestly…I understand him so much better now). Just like us, he had no tools in his shed, except social isolation…

And let me end by saying….right now it’s hitting older folks harder… but this genome is so slippery…if it mutates again (and it will). Who is to say, what it will do next.

Be smart folks… acting like you’re unafraid is so not sexy right now.

#flattenthecurve. Stay home folks… and share this to those that just are not catching on.”

    right on target… !
my nurse daughter has many friends in assorted areas of the medical field and this is what they are saying…
she got in trouble with the local hospital because she posted something similar on her facebook page… they called her boss and read the riot act to her – told her to rein this nurse in or else…
we aren’t children, we need to know what we are dealing with and pastor Jack is all colors of ignorance and irresponsibility as are the non medical folk who run the hospitals … IMHO, of course 🙂
    God keep

  13. EricL says:

Jack Hibbs video comes up as unavailable/ private. I guess someone at the church wised up enough to hide it from the world.

  14. Dan from Georgia says:

EricL et al..I believe I saw a similar video from Baton Rouge, LA yesterday on CNN, of a pastor holding services.

  15. Michael says:

I think at this point pastors who do what Hibbs did should be criminally liable.

  16. Dan from Georgia says:

Amen Michael. And the idiots over at Charisma keep trotting out these prophets and TV preachers and pretend they are experts in this.
