    BREAKING NEWS…

Charisma is reporting that James MacDonald has repented and will be heading up a new church:

    https://www.charismanews.com/us/78747-james-macdonald-issues-my-repentance-announces-he-s-joining-new-church-as-preacher

    Shocking.

  2. Martin Luther's Disciple says:

The James MacDonald story is a non issue. The new church is in Chicago so I am sure that they are fully aware of the backstory. If the still proceeded to hire him who are we to say “foul”?

I am sure it was a big enough story that all the attendees know who James MacDonald is and what he has done.
    Their enterprise, their choice.

  3. Michael says:

It’s a big issue because they are spitting in the faces of those who have endured much to expose the rotten bastard. They should be shamed and ashamed.

  4. Martin Luther's Disciple says:

You forgot to say “in your opinion”.
Perhaps the Holy spirit told them to hire MacDonald – we don’t know. If it’s not of God, he can handle them.

By all the press that will come out of this, it will make MacDonald newsworthy.
I can state that James MacDonald cannot and will not be my pastor – obviously others have chosen differently. Perhaps they are not a Christian church.

  5. Jean says:

It’s astonishing to me that no matter what some of these celebrity pastors do, there are still plenty of Christians who, aware of their past, still want them as their pastor. I don’t understand it at all.

Whether it’s the abuser, or the greedy, or the philanderer, people keep returning for more. I don’t know where Jesus fits in to people’s priorities. I have heard MacDonald on the radio several times, and the only thing I’ve ever heard him teach is the law to Christians, though somehow he personally hovers above the law.

  6. Jean says:

To take something Xenia said on another occasion, Chicago has plenty of churches. If that’s where MacDonald is starting a new church, one could ask “why?” He will just recruit Christians from other churches, which doesn’t seem very Christ-like to me. Maybe he wants to save the poor Lutherans, few in number as we are. Is he just a business man, in which his product is Christianity? God save us from the silver tongued devils.

  7. Michael says:

It’s idolatry and stupidity in differing measures. Makes me sick…

  8. Martin Luther's Disciple says:

My understanding from the article is that MacDonald is not starting a new church, he is going to an established mega church to be on their staff.

Jean, you are protected from those silver tongued devils. You belong to a church body with a specific call process..

Michael, what would you say to them if they used your line on you? You know the one – “we interpret the pastor qualification passages differently from your sect. If having more rigid standards works for your sect, well God bless you. We at New Covenant Church don’t believe that way.”
As I said, their enterprise, their choice.

MLD. Say whatever you want. This guy should step down for years, not months, for what he is accountable for. Absolulutly disgusting.

  10. Eric says:

This looks a bit like Tullian T, where he was given a non-lead role, but before long more scandal emerged and he was let go.

Well if the conversation is what would I do if I could interfere with the operation of other churches, I would banish MacDonald for life – in fact I would brand his forehead “unwelcome in any pulpit.” But alas I have no say in what others do – left up to me to dictate church doings, I would demand all other churches not to withhold baptism to infants. πŸ˜‰

I would have better biblical standing than telling a church how and who to call as a pastor.

    Good grief.

  13. Michael says:

I’ve stayed out of the Kanye discussions, but can’t any more.
I have no idea if his conversion is sincere…it very well could be.
What I do know is that Kanye is bipolar and this whole thing looks like a manic episode.
I’m sure all the people wetting themselves about his conversion will be understanding when this all goes south…

  14. bob1 says:

Anyone wanna guess how many days it will be before Kayna is appointed/anointed to the New
    Apostolic Reformation propher crowd?

    Bring your cotton candy…

  15. Em says:

Maybe we could pray for Kayne? πŸ™

  16. bob1 says:

I hope his conversion is real…but I worry about the discipleship part. Plus, all the insanity that
seems to go with celebritydom these days…

  17. Em says:

discipleship is a big problem these days in evangelistic-so-called circles – prosperity=Christianity? NO
the biggest boost in my frame of reference way back when was not the Presbyterian church, but the material used by Young Life in their Sunday afternoon Campaigners classes from Navigators…
that said, i have never had one day where God has not met my needs for the challenges… not my wants, but my needs… grace comes down the pipeline and faith goes up…
always there are questions, of course… “My ways are not your ways and My thoughts are not your thoughts….” Okay, God, then let’s go with Your ways and Your thoughts, eh? πŸ™‚

  18. Donner says:

Speaking of narcissistic celebrity pastors, Bob Coy was spotted Sunday night at the Seminole Casino in Coconut Creek, Florida. Playing slots, sipping white wine, smoking cigarettes and escorting a slim attractive brunette.

    In case anyone was interested…

  19. Em says:

Brunettes are in style these days…. Marylin’s time is over.. I’m waiting for grey hair to be in.. LOL
